Since I responded that I would not be at the graduation ceramony, they will mail my dipolma to me and it should be here around Christmas/Solstice time. Does anybody know if my 3.51 average qualifies me as an honors graduate? All honor cords are supposed to be included with my diploma. YAY ME!

Average wait time 10-15 minutes. On the news they are talking about how people have run out of gas waiting in line to get gas. One lady talked about praying on the way to the gas station and praying that they have gas once you get there. I am blessed today because Goddess Fortuna (Lady Luck) smiled on my husband as he was able to fill up the tank 2 days ago. But today we're already down by 1/4 a tank. I remember having to sit in line while my parents got gas back in the days of the Carter administration. We obviously didn't learn the lesson back then or we might have had more alternatives in place so we wouldn't have to go to war in Iraq or see these things repeat. So as I contemplate what I'm supposed to learn from this and how I can improve my own fuel ecconomy, I'll be praying that once my car hits half a tank there will be gas available for everyone.

Okay so I've been really slack about updating my lj, but it was all for a good reason...ANIME WEEKEND ATLANTA planning. I coordinated with in town parents and out of town friends again this year and though things went more smoothly this time around, with me being in the FINAL term of my journey to my Associate's Degree (33 days left!) I didn't get to the uploading of bento. So over the next few days I'll get to that.
This year was super special because I got to participate as a panalist talking about what else?! Bento! I worked with Natakiya from Bento Anarchy and I have to say it SOOOO MUCH FUN! I've already started thinking of some new panels and I'm writing down some new ideas for next year's bento panel as well. Oh and I FINALLY got to go to the Lolita Tea Party on Sunday and had a wonderful time with other loli ladies! I can't wait to join the ATL Lolitas for their next meetup! Here's a few pictures from the tea party:
Here I am with emiko

Here are (most of) the lovely ladies I sat with for tea:

And if you're interested in seeing the 429 other pictures we took over the 3 days of AWA they can be found at My AWA 14 flickr page.
Here's a couple of bentos from last week that didn't get posted:
Salad with ranch dressing, apple ritter with extra glaze and blueberries, Cheese Quesdilla with green onions, tomato (fresh from my garden), guacamole, salsa and a mint to kill the onion breath. Iced green tea in the thermos...

Unagi and Spicy crab with iced white tea:

Butternut Squash soup, Salad and a homemade whole wheat biscuit is just the thing to take the dreariness out of a rainy day stuck inside:

Hubster isn't too fond of the soup so he gets the stuffed baked potato (ham, swiss and broccoli), salad with dressing, and a few blueberries for munching later.:

There's a new exhibition that will be touring starting in November featuring some of the treasures from King Tutankhamun's tomb. While you can only see his death mask if you travel to Egypt, you can go to this exhibit and see his canopic coffinette:

Since they haven't done anything like this since the 70s (which was imortalized by Steve Martin's SNL song "King Tut") it would definately be worth driving to see if you can. Go to kingtut.org for more details.

On Monday I had to take my husband to the airport once again so loading Lil' Bear and the dog in the car I headed out on that rainy night. As I left the airport I realized that I had gotten on to 85S rather than 85N so I dutifully drove down to the nearest exit to make the turn around I am very familiar with. Unfortunately, there are some Georgia drivers that do not do so well driving in the rain and I had the misfortune of having an encounter with one of them. First, the driver realizing she was about to miss her exit cut across traffic and narrowly misses side swiping me. Fortuna (Goddess of Good Luck) was on my side since I was able to swerve into the next lane to avoid her. Unfortunately, I had to get back into the lane behind her in order to make the left turn to get back on the correct part of the highway. As we sat waiting for an 18-wheeler to complete its turn, she decided that she was too far up so she backed up...right into me. Dog barking in the front seat, kid crying in the back and no one hurt (a blessing) I get out in the rain to assess the damage. I'm furious and the first thing out of my mouth is "what is going on with you that you nearly side swipe me and now back into me?!" She apologizes and tells me she just dropped her boyfriend off at the airport and he's on his way to Iraq. I see there's no damage to my car so I took a deep breath and said "well I'm a military wife and my husband has been to Iraq twice. We can't fall apart because they're gone. If they have to worry about us it distracts them from the mission and could get them killed. Time to put on your big girl panties and get it together! Be more careful."
I really could have cursed her out...I really wanted to at that point but I didn't and I'm really proud of myself considering how angry I was by that time. As I drove home I lamented not finding out her name or her soldier's name so I could add them to my Goddess offering bowl but in the end it doesn't matter. I believe she was put into my path because she needed to hear those slightly gruff words from an 'old military wife' telling her to snap out of it and carry on. And just for good measure I added her to my Goddess offereing bowl anyway...Goddess knows who she is even if I don't.
